About this position

DTU Wind and Energy Systems is recruiting two postdocs to work on the intersection of trustworthy AI, foundation models, artificial general intelligence, machine learning, control, optimization, and power systems in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.

One postdoc will support the newly funded GenAISIS project, coordinating pilot activities and developing trustworthy AI foundation models for secure operation and planning of real transmission and distribution grids. The second postdoc will lead work on AGI methods for autonomous design and verification of power system controllers and will also contribute to the EU project ODEON, including integration of large language models for end-to-end digital twin simulations and energy data spaces.

The role sits in the Division for Power and Energy Systems at DTU Wind and Energy Systems, a large and internationally connected research environment. The postdocs may coordinate work packages, collaborate with industry, write proposals, teach courses, and co-supervise PhD and MSc students.

Eligibility highlights: PhD degree or equivalent required. Strong background expected in at least four areas among power system dynamics, optimization, machine learning, statistics/probability, Python/Julia/PyTorch, and power system software (PowerFactory, PSCAD, EMTP). Excellent English and strong publication/presentation skills are important.

Funding and terms: salaried postdoctoral employment under Danish collective agreement; salary supplements may be negotiated. Appointment length is 1 year, with full-time or part-time options mentioned.

What's required

Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent. A successful candidate should have a solid background in at least four of the following: power system dynamics, optimization (convex optimization, MILP, non-linear), machine learning techniques, statistics and probabilities, programming tools such as Python, Julia, and PyTorch, power system software such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, or EMTP, excellent English, and strong oral presentation and scientific writing skills. Self-motivation and teamwork are emphasized.
