About this position

Postdoctoral Appointee at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, United States.

This postdoctoral opening is in the Functional Coatings Group within the Applied Materials Division at Argonne National Laboratory. The research focuses on electrochemical processing, electrodeposition, functional coatings, and thin films, with an application toward water treatment and the deposition of hard-to-deposit materials. The project involves developing novel electrochemical deposition methods, controlling interfacial reaction kinetics, and engineering advanced surface-modified materials.

Applicants should have a recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, physics, or a related field. Required experience includes fundamental electrochemistry, electrochemical synthesis, deposition parameter control, and advanced electrochemical techniques such as voltammetry, potentiostatic/galvanostatic methods, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The role also requires familiarity with materials and surface characterization methods including XRD, XPS, AFM, and SEM-EDS.

The successful candidate will help design, analyze, and interpret experiments, and will be expected to communicate results through publications and presentations. The position is full time, long-term fixed term, and requires on-site presence at the Argonne campus five days per week.

Funding information provided in the posting includes an expected salary range of $72,879 to $121,465 plus comprehensive benefits.

To apply, use the Argonne Workday application link and submit your materials through the online portal. Note that employment is contingent on background checks and, where applicable, government access authorization requirements.
