About this position
National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) in Golden, Colorado is hiring one or more Postdoctoral Researchers in Battery and Critical Minerals/Materials R&D.
This postdoctoral opening is centered on materials science, electrochemistry, battery materials, and critical minerals/materials processing. The group develops materials for lithium-ion battery applications, next-generation battery technologies, and electrochemical deposition/separation approaches for critical materials. Research activities may include experiment design, synthesis and processing of battery materials, in-situ and ex-situ characterization, electrode and electrochemical cell fabrication, electrochemical testing, critical materials separation, electrochemical deposition, and analysis of electrochemical/materials data.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must be recent PhD graduates within the last three years and hold a PhD in engineering, chemistry, materials science, or physics. Strong hands-on experience with electrochemical cells, materials characterization, and battery or critical-mineral processing is required. The posting also values independence, teamwork, communication, writing, and the ability to present research to the scientific community.
Preferred skills include Python, MATLAB, Igor Pro, battery electrode/cell fabrication, electrochemical deposition, solid-state electrolytes, advanced lithium-ion materials (e.g., silicon, LMFP, low-Co/LMR/DRX cathodes), sodium-ion or sulfur systems, and analytical electrochemistry.
Funding and terms: this is a full-time fixed-term postdoc with an annual salary range of $76,600 to $126,400, plus a benefits package that may include medical, dental, vision, pension, 403(b) match, PTO, sick leave, holidays, and possible relocation reimbursement.
Application window: the posting states the anticipated closing window is up to 30 days and may be extended. Apply through the Workday portal and include a cover letter and resume.
