About this position
The University of Florida Department of Chemistry is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in Chemistry in the research group of Clifford R. Bowers. This NSF-funded position focuses on parahydrogen-sourced hyperpolarization methodology for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signal enhancement, with projects aimed at the flow-synthesis of hyperpolarized biomolecules in aqueous solution.
Research interests include experimental chemistry, hyperpolarization methods such as DNP, PHIP, and SEOP, catalyst characterization, and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The role is suited to candidates with strong publication records, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
Preferred experience includes software and programming tools such as Bruker TopSpin, Varian VnmrJ, Mestrelab Mnova, and Python, plus experience with flow NMR, laboratory automation, instrumentation design, or instrument fabrication.
The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewed for up to two years depending on performance and funding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the position includes a full benefits package.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in experimental chemistry or a closely related discipline by the start date. A complete application requires a cover letter, CV, teaching and research statement, and at least three references. Applications are reviewed beginning 2026-09-20, and the position remains open until filled.
