About this position
Cornell University’s Department of Public and Ecosystem Health is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in epidemiology, public health, statistics, and environmental science. The position is based in Ithaca, New York, United States and focuses on transdisciplinary research on the health impacts of heat, wildfire smoke, cold, and other climate-related hazards.

Preferred experience includes Open Science/Registered Reports, climate-related or NVSS mortality data, and social vulnerability measures.

What's required
PhD in Epidemiology, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, Economics, or a related computational field. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in epidemiological methods, preferably using national mortality datasets and/or case-crossover analyses, a promising publication record, expertise in statistical analysis of large datasets, machine learning, data visualization, and strong independence. Required skills include excellent scientific writing and communication, experience managing research or academic projects, collaborative coding in R and Python, strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Must be able to obtain Census Bureau Sworn Security Status clearance, including any citizenship and residency requirements, and be willing to be based in Ithaca, NY. Preferred: Open Science/Registered Reports experience, climate-related or NVSS mortality data experience, social vulnerability measures, and existing Sworn Security Status clearance.
