About this position

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in the Tarchini Lab focused on hearing and balance, with research centered on auditory and vestibular development, inner ear biology, mouse genetics, and the mechanisms that shape and maintain the stereociliary bundle.

The project investigates how hair cells, supporting cells, and their innervating neurons differentiate, with special attention to cytoskeletal polarization events that drive morphogenesis in sensory epithelia. A major goal is to identify protein complexes that organize and elongate stereocilia, understand how these proteins support adult hair bundle maintenance and injury responses, and explore whether developmental machinery can be reactivated to regenerate damaged structures.

This is a strong fit for candidates with training in developmental cell biology, neuroscience, or related biomedical fields. Preferred experience includes fine dissection, inner ear biology, mouse genetics, quantitative live imaging, or inner ear surgery. Applicants must be able to independently plan, execute, and analyze research, and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Funding is provided through a salaried postdoctoral appointment at JAX, with salary levels listed by postdoc experience (approximately $65,589 to $75,569 depending on years of experience).

To apply, submit a one-page cover letter describing your research accomplishments and fit for the role, a current CV, and three references. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered. No deadline was stated in the post.

Institution: The Jackson Laboratory, an independent nonprofit biomedical research institution in the United States.
