About this position
The Shimberg Center for Housing Studies at the University of Florida is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Housing Studies. This research role sits at the intersection of housing inequality, housing affordability, disaster risk, displacement, and health outcomes, with an active anchor project focused on housing and health conditions in Jacksonville’s Health Zone 1.
The successful candidate will join a growing research program and contribute to original research on housing inequality and affordability, community development, disaster risk and recovery, housing design and materiality, homelessness, hazards, and housing as a determinant of health. The position also involves data analysis and reporting for the Florida Housing Data Clearinghouse, co-authoring peer-reviewed publications and policy briefs, supporting external funding proposals, and communicating findings to public audiences.
Eligibility: applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand or conferred by the start date in construction management, urban and regional planning, public health, architecture, geography, sociology, disaster/emergency management, or a closely related field. Preferred experience includes quantitative housing, demographic, or health data analysis (such as parcel-level data, Census/ACS data, and GIS), strong writing, publication experience, grant proposal experience, and interest in Florida housing policy and stakeholder engagement.
Location: Main Campus, Gainesville, Florida, United States.
How to apply: submit a cover letter, CV, writing sample, and contact information for three references through the University of Florida application portal. Applications are reviewed starting August 20 and the position is open until filled.
