About this position

Postdoctoral Associate opportunity at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the laboratory of Catherine Marcinkiewcz, Ph.D. The lab studies systems neuroscience, addiction, neurodegenerative disease, and the role of serotonin systems in Alzheimer’s disease and related neuropsychiatric disorders.

The research uses multi-level approaches including fiber photometry, patch-clamp electrophysiology, optogenetics, chemogenetics, spatial transcriptomics, and 3D imaging. Current project areas include: central actions of serotonin and neuropeptides in alcohol and substance use disorders; neural circuits at the intersection of stress, alcohol use, and chronic pain; and the role of biogenic amines and environmental risk factors in Alzheimer’s disease.

This is a postdoc opening with funding available. The position is in-person at the Main Campus in Gainesville, FL, and is not eligible for remote work. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement options, and paid leave.

Applicants should have a doctorate in a relevant field, a strong publication record, productivity, and excellent writing and communication skills. Preferred experience includes neuroanatomy, small animal surgery, electrophysiology, behavioral pharmacology, rodent models, stereotaxic surgery, RNAseq, in situ hybridization, optogenetics, fiber photometry, and in vivo calcium imaging.
