About this position

Yale University’s Department of Internal Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine is advertising a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position in pharmaceutical regulation and evidence synthesis, based in New Haven, Connecticut, United States.

The postdoctoral researcher will work with Dr. Reshma Ramachandran at Yale University and Dr. Joshua D. Wallach at Emory University on a federally funded project in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The research focuses on evaluating the evidence supporting patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures used in clinical research and pharmaceutical regulation, including validity, measurement properties, and applicability as clinical trial endpoints.

The role includes leading 1–2 independent research projects, contributing to an ongoing grant on real-world evidence in clinical, regulatory, and policy contexts, and participating in study design, systematic review protocols, literature searches, data extraction and analysis, interpretation of findings, manuscript preparation, and dissemination to scientific and policy audiences. Additional opportunities may involve clinical research methodology, meta-research, and evidence synthesis for regulatory decision-making.

Eligibility: Applicants should hold a PhD, ScD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in psychology, psychometrics, social science, epidemiology, clinical research, or a related field. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Preferred experience includes psychometrics, mixed-methods research, systematic review, clinical trial endpoint evaluation, qualitative and quantitative methods, and programming with clinical research datasets (R, SAS, STATA).

Funding: Salary follows the NIH postdoctoral research salary scale. The appointment is for one year with possible renewal for a second year depending on funding and performance.

How to apply: Submit a CV, a cover letter of up to two pages, and contact information for three references. Applications and questions should be sent to Jessica Ritchie at [email protected]. The position will remain open until filled.
