About this position

Baylor College of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in the Division of Pediatrics / Children’s Nutrition Research Center in Houston, Texas, United States.

This postdoctoral project focuses on polyphenol metabolism, plant-based analytical chemistry, bioavailability, and the physiological effects of phytochemicals. The successful candidate will work with Drs. Mike Dzakovich and Caitlin Vonderohe on optimizing intrinsic labeling systems for plants, developing high-throughput analytical methods for labeled phytochemicals, and running pre-clinical studies in cell lines, enteroids, and piglets.

The role includes advanced analytical chemistry studies involving plant-based foods and crops, crop growth in controlled environments, protocol development, in-vivo and in-vitro metabolism experiments, piglet care, and publication of research findings. The postdoc will also participate in the CNRC Postdoctoral Training Program, including mentoring, journal club, research presentations, and seminars.

Eligibility: an MD or PhD in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. Preferred experience includes cell culture, large animal models, programming/coding, sensors/electronics/system automation, hydroponics or plant growth, mass spectrometry, experimental design, statistical analysis, teamwork, and peer-reviewed publishing.
