About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow and PhD Opportunities in Biomass Valorization & Biorefinery at Dalhousie University (Bioproducts and Bioenergy Research Lab), located at the Agricultural Campus in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada.

This opportunity is for motivated researchers interested in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biorefinery, biomass valorization, green extraction, bioenergy, and bioproducts. The research program focuses on integrated biorefinery and sustainable biomass valorization, including green extraction of high-value compounds from marine and renewable biomass, hydrothermal/microwave/ultrasound/cavitation-assisted extraction, biomass fractionation, development of value-added bioproducts, conversion of residues into biocarbon materials, and process optimization for sustainable biorefinery development.

Open positions: 1 Postdoctoral Fellow and 1 PhD student.

Postdoctoral applicants should have a PhD in Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Bioresource/Bioprocess Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field, plus a strong publication record and experience in biomass valorization, extraction/separation technologies, marine/algal biomass processing, hydrothermal processing, green extraction, bioactive compound recovery, or residue conversion. PhD applicants should hold a master's degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Bioresource/Bioprocess Engineering, or a related field, with strong academic preparation, research motivation, and experimental skills.

Funding details are not specified in the post. Interested candidates should email their CV, reference contacts, and a brief statement of research interests and relevant experience to [email protected]. Use the subject line “Postdoctoral Fellow Application – Biorefinery” or “PhD Application – Biorefinery.” Deadline: November 15, 2026.
