About this position

Telecom Paris (part of Institut Mines-Télécom and Institut Polytechnique de Paris) is advertising a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship in agentic control for autonomous Kubernetes cluster management.

The project sits in the INFRES department, within the Networks, Mobility and Services (RMS) team and the LTCI research laboratory. The research topic combines computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud-native systems, Kubernetes, edge computing, LLMs, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

The postdoctoral researcher will study closed-loop AI agents that can observe cluster state, interpret logs/metrics/traces/events, reason about failures and corrective actions under safety constraints, execute recovery steps, and verify system health. A key emphasis is on using locally deployable open-weight models and RAG over local documentation and operational data to support autonomous management in resource-constrained, intermittently connected edge environments.

The work will be evaluated using an existing benchmark such as AIOpsLab or a dedicated Kubernetes operational benchmark, with scenarios inspired by the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) exam and repeated experiments on realistic failure diagnosis and recovery tasks.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent. Required experience includes AI/ML, computer systems, Linux programming, LLMs, RAG architectures, cloud-native technologies, and Kubernetes. Good English is required; distributed systems, edge computing, and open-source experience are advantageous.

Location: Palaiseau, Île-de-France, France (hybrid).

Deadline: 30 August 2026.
