About this position
Indiana University Bloomington’s Department of Biology and the Landeta Lab are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in biology, with a strong focus on microbiology, biochemistry, proteomics, and oxidative protein folding in bacteria.
The lab studies processes in the bacterial cell envelope, especially oxidative protein folding and disulfide-bond-dependent proteins. The project aims to advance NIH and CFF-funded research on novel oxidative reactions, substrate specificity among thiol-disulfide oxidoreductases, and discovery of inhibitors against oxidative folding.
Research topics include in vitro inhibitor assays against redox membrane proteins, cysteine enrichment of DsbA substrates in E. coli and Mycobacteria using proteomics, comparing DsbA proteins from E. coli and M. smegmatis, and collaborating on inhibitor-protein crystallography with Prof. Weikai Li.
Applicants must hold a PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, or a related field. Preferred experience includes microbial genetics, protein purification, in vitro assays, molecular biology, and proteomics. The role also involves supervising undergraduates, managing lab operations, writing research reports/manuscripts, and presenting at meetings and conferences.
Funding includes a stipend commensurate with experience, health insurance, and full benefits. The initial appointment is for 1 year, with possible reappointment for up to 3 years based on performance.
