About this position
City of Hope is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics within the Department of Diabetes and Cancer Metabolism. The project is part of an NIH R01-funded research program focused on decoding cardiomyocyte subtype dynamics and molecular mechanisms underlying heart failure progression.
The lab is led by Didi Ren, Ph.D. and combines single-cell and single-nucleus multi-omics, machine learning/AI, computational biology, and experimental validation. The successful candidate will lead computational and bioinformatics studies, develop analytical approaches, collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers, and contribute to high-impact publications and future independent research directions.
Research topics include single-cell RNA-seq, single-nucleus RNA-seq, sc/snATAC-seq, multiome analysis, transcriptomic and epigenomic integration, gene regulatory networks, transcription factor and pathway analysis, spatial transcriptomics, and AI/LLM-based biomedical workflows.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or M.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, computer science, biostatistics, biomedical sciences, or a related field; strong programming in Python and/or R; Linux/HPC experience; and experience with high-dimensional genomic data. Preferred experience includes machine learning, deep learning, foundation models, multi-omics integration, and cardiovascular biology.
Funding: This is a paid postdoctoral position supported by an NIH R01 grant. The posting does not list a fixed stipend amount.
