About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow position in developmental biology, molecular genetics, and genomics at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (CCR, Cancer and Developmental Biology Laboratory).
The Mackem lab is recruiting for an NIH-funded postdoc to study the roles of Sonic hedgehog (Shh) in vertebrate limb patterning, including digit types, digit number, and morphological adaptations. The project uses molecular-genetic and genomic approaches to investigate developmental morphogenesis, Shh relay signals, late signaling centers, progenitor pool regulation, and the mechanistic basis of autocrine non-responsiveness in Shh-producing cells.
Research interests include genome-wide analyses, comparative evolutionary analyses, regulatory networks, and bioinformatic analysis of developmental data. The lab’s recent publications highlight work on digit joint specification, Bmp-negative feedback loops, and the role of Shh as a trigger in limb patterning.
This is a full-time, in-person training position with a starting stipend of $67,200. The post explicitly states that U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is not required.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent, a strong background in developmental biology and/or molecular genetics, and preferably experience with genomic approaches; bioinformatics experience is a plus.
How to apply: submit a CV/resume, two references, and a summary of research experience. The posting is for the Frederick, Maryland location.
