About this position

University of Oslo is advertising a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship in immunology within the Department of Diakonhjemmet Research and Teaching, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine. The project is part of the KG Jebsen Center for Specific Autoimmune Therapy, a translational research center focused on developing antigen-specific B-cell depletion strategies for autoimmune diseases.

The successful candidate will work on monitoring PAD2/PAD4-specific and ACPA-specific B cells in patients treated with B-cell depleting agents, with the broader aim of tracking disease-relevant B-cell populations and their relationship to disease states such as rheumatoid arthritis. The work combines basic and clinical research and will be carried out in close collaboration with researchers and clinicians at Diakonhjemmet Hospital, Oslo University Hospital, and REMEDY.

Key tasks include organizing the clinical part of the project, recruiting patients and obtaining biological samples, isolating immune cells, identifying and characterising antigen-specific cells by flow cytometry and cell-culture assays, cloning and recombinant expression of rearranged B-cell receptor genes, and writing scientific papers and presenting results at international conferences.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in medicine, molecular biology, basic immunology, or a related field. Required experience includes basic immunological research, flow cytometry, cell culture, ELISA, molecular biology techniques such as PCR and cloning, project management, scientific writing, and scientific presentations. Strong English skills are required. Experience with clinical studies and patients is an advantage. The position also emphasizes motivation, independence, teamwork, and interest in an academic career.

The appointment is fixed term for 3 years and the salary range is NOK 595,000–679,000 depending on competence and experience. The post is based in Oslo, Norway.

To apply, submit an application letter, CV, publication list, project description, transcripts/certificates, and contact details for 2–3 references through Jobbnorge. The deadline is 16 September 2026.
