About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Multi-Omics and Machine Learning for Precision Medicine in Childhood Leukemia at Uppsala University, Sweden.

This postdoctoral position is based in the Department of Medical Sciences and the Molecular Precision Medicine research group at the Biomedical Center (BMC). The project focuses on pediatric leukemia and precision medicine, using multi-omics approaches to study blood samples from children with leukemia, healthy controls, and in vitro cell models.

Research topics include genomics (WGS), transcriptomics (bulk and scRNA-seq), epigenomics (methylation arrays), proteomics (Olink Explore PEA, Illumina SomaSeq), biomarker discovery, disease subtyping, and prediction of treatment response. The role also involves developing and applying machine learning models and collaborating with clinical and computational researchers.

The project is funded by the transnational European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) and is carried out in collaboration with leading pediatric hematology groups at the University of Freiburg, Technical University of Munich, and the University of Tampere.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, or a related field; experience with large-scale data analysis, Python, R, Linux/UNIX, DNA/RNA sequencing, and proteomics; strong English communication skills; and the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

The appointment is full-time for two years, with the possibility of extension for up to one additional year. The workplace is in Uppsala. The application deadline is 2026-09-09.

Apply through Uppsala University's recruitment system via the official job portal. Contact Jessica Nordlund for position-specific information.
