About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Particle and Nuclear Physics at Lund University, Sweden, in the Lund LDMX group (LunDMX) within the Department of Physics.

This is a research-focused postdoc connected to the Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The project centers on particle physics, nuclear physics, dark matter, simulation, detector performance, physics analysis, software development, and machine learning. The group works on sub-GeV dark matter searches, background studies, pile-up handling, detector development, and data-driven methods, with possible contributions to prototype test data and HCal electronics characterization.

The role is based in Lund but involves close collaboration with the international LDMX community and possible travel to SLAC and collaborators. The postdoc will use and further develop GEANT4-based ldmx-sw software in C++ and Python, work with ROOT files, event generators, and machine learning tools, and contribute to documentation, reporting, mentorship, and software maintenance.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in Physics (or equivalent) by the appointment decision date; strong research ability; teaching ability; prior experience with simulations and data analysis in particle physics or a similar area; strong C++ and Python skills; collaborative experience in international projects; very good English; scholarly output such as publications or a strong PhD dissertation. Recent PhD graduates and candidates with machine learning or student supervision experience are especially welcome.

Funding/employment: fixed-term employment for two years at 100% starting 1 October 2026 or as agreed. Lund University notes standard employee benefits, but no stipend amount is given.
