About this position
Mass General Brigham / Brigham and Women’s Hospital is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Wohl Lab in Boston, Massachusetts, with close collaboration with the Grad Lab at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
The project focuses on pathogen genomic surveillance, including developing and evaluating genomic sampling strategies, building simulation frameworks for pathogen transmission, analyzing pathogen genomic data, and collaborating with international stakeholders on public health pathogen priorities. Research themes include infectious disease epidemiology, computational biology, bioinformatics, applied statistics, mathematics, and phylogenetic/genomic analysis.
Responsibilities include simulation and evaluation of sampling scenarios, leveraging AI tools to build genomic datasets from public data and metadata, guiding accessible tools for surveillance program design, and supporting pathogen genomic analyses in public health settings.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in infectious disease epidemiology, computational biology, applied statistics, mathematics, or a related field; pending doctoral degrees may also be considered. Strong Python and/or R programming skills are required, along with experience in next-generation sequencing data, phylogenetic analysis, statistical study design, population dynamics modeling, or population genetics. Strong teamwork and communication skills are important for multidisciplinary and international collaboration.
