About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in the United Kingdom, based in Hinxton/Cambridge, within the Martin group.

The project sits at the intersection of statistical genetics, genomics, proteomics, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and medical science, with a strong focus on early-life traits and conditions, neonatal diseases, pregnancy complications, perinatal traits, and biomarker development.

Research directions include analysis of large-scale proteomic data from Scandinavian dried blood spots, genetic studies of neonatal conditions, sequence and genotype data from more than 110,000 individuals across four birth cohorts, and methylation-aware whole-genome sequence data from cell-free DNA (cfDNA) to develop biomarkers for pregnancy complications.

The role is suited to candidates with a PhD in statistics, statistical genetics, genetics, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, or a related area, plus experience with large-scale human omics data, Python and/or R, Unix/Linux, and reproducible computational workflows.

Funding includes a salary of £38,570-£49,893 per annum and a 3-year contract. The post is full time and collaborative, with access to the Wellcome Genome Campus and a large community of statistical and computational geneticists.

To apply, submit a CV and cover letter through the Workday link. Informal queries can be sent to [email protected] before applying. Closing date: 10 November 2026.
