About this position
Stanford University’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is advertising a full-time postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Wendy Liu, MD, PhD in the Department of Ophthalmology.
The project is centered on vision research, with a strong focus on retina mechanotransduction, mechanosensitive ion channels, and related technologies such as ultrasound neuromodulation and sonogenetics. The lab is also interested in translational approaches for glaucoma and other neurodegenerative diseases.
The successful candidate will lead a project investigating mechanotransduction in the retina and may use techniques including 2-photon calcium imaging, retinal electrophysiology, rodent microsurgery, animal models of glaucoma, and other ocular disease models. The postdoc will join a young lab with opportunities for discovery at the intersection of ophthalmology and sensory neuroscience.
Eligibility requires completion of PhD or MD training. Prior experience in vision or neuroscience research is preferred, and applicants with skills in single-cell RNA sequencing, eye and brain histology, electrophysiology, calcium imaging, neuromodulation, and animal handling are especially encouraged.
Funding is at least the Stanford University required minimum for postdoctoral scholars; the FY27 minimum base pay is $79,056. The post also highlights mentorship, career development, grant writing, manuscript writing, and presentation opportunities, including support for future fellowship applications.
To apply, send a cover letter and CV (with publications, research skills, and three references) directly to Dr. Wendy Liu by email.
