About this position

Yale University’s School of Medicine is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position in the Department of Infectious Disease, based at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. The role is supervised by Dr. Lynn Matthews and supports NIH-funded work focused on the U.S. South, especially a multi-year collaborative research program in Alabama.

The project centers on adapting, implementing, and evaluating a combination intervention to advance the goals of Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE). Research activities include implementation science, HIV services research, pragmatic/hybrid trials, mixed methods, public health data science, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions to improve HIV testing, linkage to care, and rapid ART initiation in rural Alabama.

Responsibilities include data analysis and interpretation, harmonizing surveillance/programmatic/commercial datasets, supporting big-data analyses, conducting qualitative interviews and mixed-methods research, collaborating with public health partners such as the Alabama Department of Public Health and Mobile County Health Department, and contributing to manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, progress reports, and future grant proposals.

Applicants must hold a terminal degree by the start date (PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, or equivalent) in medicine, public health, implementation science, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, behavioral science, sociology, informatics, or a related field. Strong Stata/R skills, scholarly writing ability, and experience or interest in implementation science, HIV research, mixed methods, or applied public health data science are required. Preferred qualifications include experience with CFIR/RE-AIM, causal inference, longitudinal/time-to-event methods, HIV surveillance or administrative datasets, qualitative analysis, and familiarity with rural health or the Southern U.S. HIV epidemic.

This is a full-time, term-limited postdoctoral appointment. Salary follows Yale Postdoctoral Compensation policy and may include support for conference travel. To apply, submit a cover letter, CV, writing sample or representative publication, and contact information for two references.
