About this position

Two postdoctoral fellow positions are open in Astrophysics at the Division of Astrophysics, Department of Physics, Lund University in Sweden. The successful candidates will join Prof. Oscar Agertz and the galaxy formation group to work on research in numerical simulations, galaxy formation and evolution, star formation, extragalactic astronomy, and related computational astrophysics topics.

The research environment includes access to substantial computational resources at national supercomputing facilities. Potential projects mentioned include cosmological zoom-in simulations of galaxy formation, the origin and evolution of the Milky Way, dwarf galaxy formation, and galaxy-scale simulations of the turbulent interstellar medium and star formation. Candidates are also encouraged to develop independent projects aligned with their interests.

This is a full-time, fixed-term 2-year postdoctoral appointment. Teaching may be included for up to 20% of working hours, and the position includes three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in the relevant subject, normally completed within the last three years, and should have very good English skills plus strong understanding of numerical astrophysics and computational galaxy formation/star formation.

To apply, submit an English-language PDF containing a CV with publications, a short description of past research and future research interests (max three pages), contact information for at least two references, and a copy of the doctoral degree certificate and any other relevant certificates/grades. Deadline: 2026-12-07.
