About this position

Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is recruiting an MD- or PhD-trained postdoctoral fellow for a two-year NIH T32-supported research position in tuberculosis and global sepsis research.

The fellowship sits within a multidisciplinary program led by two NIH-funded physician-scientists and spans drug-resistant TB, TB-HIV coinfection, post-TB lung disease, sepsis, and infection-related critical illness. Research may include clinical epidemiology, data science, immunology, pathogen metabolism and genomics, diagnostics, therapeutics, host-omics, pathogen-omics, and other quantitative approaches.

Applicants with a strong background in translational science and a quantitative orientation are especially encouraged, particularly those with training in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or related disciplines. Preferred experience includes TB, drug-resistant TB, TB-HIV coinfection, post-TB lung disease, sepsis, critical illness, global health research, longitudinal or clinical data analysis, microbial genomics, host-response research, and translational infectious disease or critical care research.

The position includes structured mentorship, salary support, and funding for coursework and additional training in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, research methods, or related fields. The listed salary is 72,116.00.

Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree and must meet NIH T32 eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen, U.S. noncitizen national, or lawful permanent resident.

To apply, prepare a CV, a one-page statement of research interests and career goals, and contact information for three references, then submit through the Nature Careers application portal before the closing date of 2026-09-19.
