About this position
2027-2029 Postdoctoral Fellowships in Autism Spectrum Disorder at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill), within the UNC TEACCH Autism Program in the School of Medicine.
This postdoctoral opening is for a 1-2 year fellowship with 3 positions available for the 2027-2028 academic year. The fellowship combines clinical and research activities in autism spectrum disorder, with opportunities in diagnostic evaluations, individual therapy, group treatment, early intervention, parent coaching, transition-age youth interventions, adult dialectical behavior therapy groups, and adult residential care.
Research opportunities are centered on federally funded projects focused on autism in adolescence and adulthood under the direction of Dr. Laura Klinger, TEACCH director. Current projects include clinical trials on transition to adulthood and mental health interventions, as well as studies of service use and needs across the adult lifespan, including aging. The TEACCH research infrastructure includes a database of more than 14,000 individuals diagnosed by TEACCH.
Eligibility highlights: PhD required; prior training in clinical and/or research activities focused on autism is required; applicants from clinical psychology, school psychology, developmental psychology, and education are encouraged to apply. Prior experience on a high-performing team in an academic medical or clinical setting is preferred.
Funding: stipend commensurate with NIH guidelines, plus health benefits, paid vacation and sick leave, and support to attend national conferences.
