About this position
14 postdoctoral fellowships are available in the BRIDGE – Translational Excellence Programme at the University of Copenhagen. The programme is designed for ambitious researchers who want to bridge basic biomedical research, clinical research, and the life science industry through a two-year translational project.
Research areas include translational medicine, disease modelling, omics studies, biomarker discovery, target development, preclinical development, and early clinical translation (T0–T2). Fellows spend most of their time on an individual project co-designed with a Mentor Team and also complete a mandatory 55-day Academic Curriculum covering translational science, research management, ethics, communication, and grant writing.
The call is open to candidates with either an MD and PhD (or equivalent) or an MSc and PhD (or equivalent) in relevant fields such as biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary science, or medical engineering. The PhD must normally have been obtained within the last eight years. Current PhD students may apply if their thesis will be defended before the programme start date.
The fellowship is hosted at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences or the Faculty of SCIENCE at the University of Copenhagen, with mentor teams including basic biomedical and clinical scientists and, where relevant, industry mentors. The position is full-time, starts on 1 September 2027, and includes DKK 40,000 per year for project-related costs such as travel, language courses, and conference participation.
Applicants must first secure or identify an eligible Mentor Team and have the team preapproved before the deadline. The application consists of a project description, project abstract and CV, plus supplementary documents, and must be submitted online by 9 February 2027 at 23:59 CET.
