About this position
IRBLleida (Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Lleida, Fundació Dr. Pifarré) is inviting applications from highly motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in preparing a Juan de la Cierva 2026 fellowship. The position is hosted by the Vascular and Renal Translational Research Group and focuses on extracellular vesicles and molecular biomarkers for precision nephrology.
The project is designed to be strongly translational and aims to explore how extracellular vesicles and their molecular cargo can support molecular phenotyping, biomarker discovery, and patient stratification in kidney disease. The research will combine analysis of human biological samples from clinically characterized cohorts with the possibility of integrating extracellular-vesicle profiling, non-coding RNA analysis, and other molecular readouts.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in Biomedicine, Life Sciences, or a related field such as Biology, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology. The call especially welcomes candidates with experience in extracellular vesicle isolation, characterization, or molecular profiling; liquid biopsy and molecular biomarker approaches; non-coding RNA research; analysis of serum, plasma, urine, or other clinical samples; RT-qPCR, RNA sequencing, or other molecular/omics techniques; and bioinformatics or biostatistics. Prior experience in kidney disease or nephrology is welcome but not essential.
The appointment is a full-time, 3-year postdoctoral contract, subject to confirmation in the official Juan de la Cierva 2026 call. Salary and funding conditions will follow the official call terms. The posting is based in Lleida, Spain, and the deadline for expressions of interest is 30 October 2026.

Candidates should have excellent English, be highly motivated, and ideally have experience in extracellular vesicle isolation, characterization or molecular profiling, liquid biopsy and molecular biomarker approaches, non-coding RNA analysis, analysis of human serum, plasma, urine or other clinical samples, RT-qPCR, RNA sequencing or other molecular/omics techniques, and bioinformatics, biostatistics, or integration of molecular and clinical data. Hands-on extracellular vesicle experience is a strong advantage. Experience in kidney disease or nephrology is welcome but not essential. A strong background in molecular or translational biomedical research, a solid publication record, and motivation to develop an independent postdoctoral profile are highly valued. Candidates are expected to have obtained their doctoral degree between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026, subject to confirmation in the official call, with possible extensions according to the call conditions.
