Postdoctoral opportunity in advanced photonics and fiber-optic sensing at CNRS (France)
The CNRS / Laboratoire Temps Espace is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on advanced sensing functionalities based on the REFIMEVE infrastructure. The project focuses on photonics, optics, telecommunications, signal processing, and distributed fiber-optic sensing using ultra-stable laser stations and metrological systems.
The successful candidate will design and perform optical-fiber measurement experiments, manipulate laser phase using EOMs, MZMs, and AOMs, and develop coherent modulation/demodulation and digital signal-processing methods. The role also includes implementing laser frequency and phase control techniques, building experimental demonstrators, analyzing data, and contributing to publications, reports, and scientific dissemination.
This is a highly experimental position within a multidisciplinary environment involving photonics, instrumentation, electronics, FPGA technologies, and signal processing. The researcher will collaborate with academic and industrial partners in France and Europe, including partners in the SENSEI project, and may spend extended periods working with Exail in Bordeaux.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in photonics, optics, telecommunications, signal processing, or a related field; strong photonics and optical communications background; hands-on experience with lasers and modulators; strong signal-processing skills; English required, French advantageous.

What's required
PhD or equivalent in photonics, optics, telecommunications, signal processing, or a related scientific or engineering field. Strong knowledge of photonics and optical communication systems is required, along with experimental experience with lasers and electro-optic or acousto-optic modulators. Candidates should know coherent modulation/demodulation, digital modulation schemes such as BPSK and QPSK, and have strong signal-processing skills. Experience characterizing photonic systems and with laser frequency/phase locking is highly desirable. Knowledge of electronics, FPGA technologies, or digital acquisition systems is an advantage. Excellent written and oral English is required; French is an advantage.
