The postdoc will develop independent research in one of two themes: (A) civil–military relations in the Arctic or (B) Arctic defense policies and security dynamics. The project should engage with contemporary Arctic geopolitics, military presence in Greenland, interstate dynamics, NATO/transatlantic relations, and policy-relevant analysis. DIIS emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, policy dissemination, and engagement with stakeholders, including relevant authorities in Greenland and Denmark.

Eligibility highlights: Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field before the start date. A strong research profile in Arctic studies and security studies is preferred, along with a solid publication record, experience with in-depth research methods, prior familiarity with the relevant literature, and strong communication and collaboration skills. English is required; Kalaallisut is an advantage.
Funding and terms: This is a full-time academic postdoctoral appointment. Salary is DKK 412,519 to 489,379 plus functional allowance, excluding pension, with a possible personal qualification supplement. DIIS notes that some research stays abroad and fieldwork may be supported through supplemental funding depending on the project.
