About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for the AgroBioSciences (AgBS) program within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The project focuses on biomass conversion and valorization for sustainable agronomic applications, with an emphasis on turning underused biomass into useful products for agriculture.
The successful candidate will work on extraction and characterization of biopolymers and bioactive molecules, formulation development, advanced physico-chemical characterization, and plant trials. The role also includes literature review, data documentation and integrity, benchmarking of materials and processes, and support for scale-up from lab to semi-pilot scale. In addition, the postdoc will contribute to research reports, presentations, publications, patent disclosures, and co-supervision of students, while collaborating with industrial partners, academic researchers, and internal R&D teams.
AgBS is a multidisciplinary research center focused on addressing African agriculture challenges through science and technology. Relevant research themes across the center include microbiome, omics, plant physiology and crop improvement, plant pathology, by-products valorization, soil sciences, agronomy, and sustainable farming. This position is therefore well suited to researchers interested in applied research at the interface of materials, biotechnology, formulations, and agricultural sustainability.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in material science, biotechnology, formulation science, or a related discipline. Prior experience with biomass conversion and valorization is required, and familiarity with fertilizer science and technology is highly desirable. Strong English and French communication skills are expected, alongside creativity, autonomy, rigor, and the ability to work in diverse international teams.
To apply, candidates should prepare a cover letter, an updated CV, a research statement of up to 2-3 pages, and contact details for two professional references. The application is submitted via the provided online application link. No deadline is specified in the posting.
