About this position

Postdoctoral position in gene therapy for genetic inner ear diseases at the Hearing Institute / Institut Pasteur in Paris, France.

The project sits within the Institut Reconnect team and focuses on hereditary and acquired human deafness, with a strong translational emphasis on developing AAV-based gene therapy approaches for inner ear disorders. The lab has established proof-of-concept work in multiple deafness forms and works on mechanisms of hearing loss, cochlear biology, and therapeutic restoration of auditory function.

The successful candidate will lead projects in mouse models of human inner ear defects and will work with techniques including gene expression analysis, molecular and cell biology, confocal and two-photon imaging, in vivo gene delivery, and other experimental methods in sensory neuroscience.

Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline. Experience with rodent models is expected, and mouse handling skills, including behavioral or surgical in vivo procedures, are an advantage. The role also requires creativity, independence, teamwork, and strong oral and written English communication skills.

This is a full-time, fixed-term 18-month postdoctoral contract with salary negotiable. Geographic mobility is listed as international. No application deadline is stated in the post.

Research keywords: gene therapy, AAV, mouse models, neuroscience, hearing loss, inner ear disorders, sensory systems.
