About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its AgroBioSciences Program (AgBS), is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow in Genomics and Bioinformatics based in Benguerir, Morocco. The project focuses on rhizobia genomic characterization, distribution, diversity, and transmission mechanisms between rhizobia and host plants, with research activities spanning molecular biology, whole-genome sequencing, and bioinformatics.
The selected researcher will join a project team and contribute to identifying isolated strains using 16S RNA and ITS, conducting whole-genome sequencing of selected strains, performing taxonomy characterization and analysis, and carrying out bioinformatics analysis on generated data. The role also includes co-supervising master’s and doctoral students and publishing results in high-impact journals.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related equivalent field. Required experience includes bioinformatics pipelines such as Illumina, MiseQ, and Sanger sequencing, taxonomy analysis, diversity and genotyping, and hands-on analysis of 16S RNA and ITS sequencing data. A publication record in the field is expected, along with excellent spoken and written English, strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, motivation, and interest in scientific work.
