About this position

Postdoctoral position in immunotherapies targeting pediatric AML at Stanford University

A postdoctoral opening is available in the Laboratory of Tanja Andrea Gruber, M.D., Ph.D. at Stanford University School of Medicine, within Pediatrics and Hematology Oncology Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine. The project focuses on immunotherapeutic approaches for fusion oncogene-driven acute myeloid leukemia (AML), with opportunities to work with physicians, translational researchers, and scientists.

The research includes primary human hematopoietic and leukemia cells, an established humanized mouse model, and techniques such as Western blotting, real-time PCR, immunoprecipitation, cloning, FACS/sorting, colony assays, lentiviral and retroviral transductions, transplantation experiments, xenograft models, peptide stimulation assays, single-cell sequencing, and RNA-seq. The lab is especially interested in identifying tumor-associated antigens, characterizing expanded TCR clones, and discovering potential CAR-T targets for pediatric AML.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in immunology, molecular biology, or cellular biology, completed within the past 3 years. A strong background in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, and experience with mammalian cells and mouse models of cancer/leukemia are preferred. Bioinformatics skills for sequencing data analysis are also preferred. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team, and has strong communication, problem-solving, data processing, and presentation skills.

This is a 1-year postdoctoral term with renewal based on performance for up to 5 years. The expected base pay is the Stanford University required minimum for postdoctoral scholars; the FY27 minimum is $79,056. Applications are submitted by email to Aronne Schwartz at [email protected] with a CV, letter of interest, and three references.
