About this position
Postdoctoral Position in Isotope Geochemistry and Archaeology at CNRS in Toulouse, France.
This full-time temporary postdoctoral opening is part of the ANR CROC project, focused on dog-human interactions and the impact of the advent of agriculture in Europe on the diet of dogs. The project combines isotope geochemistry, archaeology, paleogenomics, and zooarchaeology, with samples from prehistoric dogs and associated fauna from archaeological sites in France and Romania.
The successful candidate will work within the Stable Isotope Geochemistry team at GET-OMP (CNRS) and collaborate with archaeologists and geochemists in the lab and in the field. Main tasks include tooth sampling, column chromatography, collagen extraction, amino acid derivatization, isotopic analyses using MC-ICP-MS and GC-IRMS, data processing, interpretation, conference presentations, and journal publications.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in geosciences, archaeology, or stable isotopes; basic French required; fluent English required; French and/or Romanian are an asset. Preferred experience includes mass spectrometry, collagen extraction, amino acid derivatization, column chromatography, dental development, zooarchaeology, and clean-lab work.
Funding and contract: temporary full-time position (35 hours/week), starting 4 Jan 2027. The post is not funded by an EU research programme.
Deadline: 9 Oct 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
