About this position

Postdoctoral position in molecular characterization of cortical pain circuits at the Institut des Neurosciences Cellulaires et Intégratives (INCI, UPR 3212) in Strasbourg, France.

The Pain & Psychopathology team studies the neurobiological mechanisms underlying chronic pain, with a focus on neuropathic pain and its comorbid mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. The project centers on the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), a key brain region involved in pain perception, emotional processing, and cognitive integration.

The successful candidate will work on transcriptomic and epigenetic adaptations associated with chronic pain, using a viral Translating Ribosome Affinity Purification (vTRAP) strategy for deep molecular phenotyping. The role also includes bioinformatic analysis to identify molecular signatures and gene networks linked to chronic pain and emotional dysregulation.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD is required, with a strong background in RNA-seq, transcriptomics and/or molecular profiling, plus experience in bioinformatic data analysis. Trapping experience is considered an asset.

Funding: the position is covered by ANR France and the salary will be adjusted according to the candidate’s experience. Contract length is 24 months, with an employment start date of 2 November 2026.

How to apply: send a CV, motivation letter, and at least one letter of recommendation by email to the addresses listed in the posting. The deadline is 15 October 2026.
