About this position

EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project on multiplexed single-cell RNA-seq–based antibody discovery in the Lab of Biomedical Microfluidics (LBMM).

The project focuses on using transcriptomic datasets to discover new therapeutic antibodies. The lab combines a tech-development environment on the EPFL campus with a translational lab at the AGORA cancer research center, with access to patient material and collaborations across Europe and the US.

Relevant research areas include single-cell biology, next-generation sequencing, antibody discovery, microfluidics, bioinformatics, flow cytometry, FACS, and NGS library preparation. Experience with droplet microfluidics and platforms such as 10X Genomics or Drop-seq is beneficial.

Applicants should have a strong background in single-cell analysis and/or antibody discovery, with good knowledge of single-cell RNA-seq workflows, cell biology, and biochemistry. The role involves optimizing sequencing workflows, sorting cells, preparing libraries, analyzing data, and designing screens with bioinformaticians.

The position is a CDD postdoctoral contract at 100% activity rate for 1 year, renewable. Applications must be submitted through EPFL’s online platform. Required documents include a cover letter, CV with publication list, research statement, and contact details for three referees.

For questions, contact Prof. Christoph Merten at [email protected].

Funding details

Postdoctoral employment contract (CDD) for 1 year, renewable, at 100% activity rate. No stipend amount or tuition information is provided.

What's required

Primary training in single-cell biology, next-generation sequencing, or antibody discovery. Experience in droplet microfluidics, including commercial platforms such as 10X Genomics, is beneficial but not essential. Applicants should have hands-on experience in single-cell analysis and/or antibody discovery, good knowledge of single-cell RNA-seq workflows, flow cytometry, cell biology, and biochemistry, plus good communication skills and motivation for interdisciplinary work.

How to apply

Apply only through the online platform. Submit a brief cover letter (PDF, up to 2 pages), a single PDF containing a CV with publication list and a research statement (up to 3 pages), and contact details for 3 referees.
