About this position

ERC-funded postdoctoral position at the Gozzi Laboratory, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Rovereto, Italy, focused on how basal forebrain circuits shape whole-brain activity and functional network organization in the awake mouse brain.

The project combines experimental neuroscience, functional neuroimaging, rodent experiments, and computational analysis. Methods include cell-type-specific manipulations, fMRI, functional ultrasound imaging, multimodal recordings, optical imaging, and analysis of large-scale neural datasets. The lab studies neuromodulatory control of brain-wide network activity in health and disease.

Applicants should have a PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field. Prior experience with rodent experiments is essential. Experience with awake mouse experiments, in vivo brain imaging, circuit manipulations, viral/vector-based approaches, and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or R is a strong advantage.

The successful candidate will design and run experiments, analyze imaging datasets, integrate experimental and computational approaches, collaborate with PhD students and postdocs, help supervise junior lab members, and contribute to manuscripts for publication.

This is an ERC-funded position with a 1-year contract, renewable up to three years. The deadline is 30 September 2026, and the expected start date is 1 November 2026.

To apply, email a CV with publication list, a statement of research interests and fit, and contact details for two academic referees to [email protected].
