About this position

Postdoctoral position in NK cell immunotherapy for cancer at Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina (IBB), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

The project is led by Dr. Aura Muntasell and focuses on developing an off-the-shelf, allogeneic TAR-NK cell product for cancer immunotherapy. The work sits at the interface of NK-cell biology, cell therapy manufacturing, and clinical translation.

Key research tasks include developing and standardizing the manufacturing process for SMAD4-edited human NK cells (expansion, CRISPR/Cas9 genetic modification, cryopreservation), transferring and manufacturing the clinical product with the Banc de Sang i Teixits de Catalunya, and supporting preclinical studies for IMPD submission (pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic, biodistribution, and efficacy studies in colorectal cancer models). The role also includes optimizing assays for identity, purity, safety, and potency of the final NK-cell product.

Applicants should have a PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field. Required experience includes primary human NK cell isolation and culture, multiparametric flow cytometry, immunological assays, NK-cell biology, experimental design, data analysis, troubleshooting, and English proficiency. GMP cell therapy manufacturing, CRISPR/Cas9 or electroporation, xenograft/PDX/humanized mouse models, CMC development, IMPD preparation, reporting, or project coordination are considered advantages.

The position is based in Barcelona, Spain, lasts 1 year and is extendable to 2 years. No funding amount is stated. To apply, send your updated CV and optional references to [email protected] before the end of October 2026.
