About this position

Postdoctoral position at IMT Nord Europe, France

This postdoctoral opening is hosted by the Energy and Environment Education, Research and Innovation Center (CERI EE) at IMT Nord Europe, within the Energy, Fluids and Heat Transfer research axis. The project, REVEST, focuses on the research and validation of passive heat transfer enhancement techniques for latent thermal energy storage systems based on phase change materials (PCMs).

The successful candidate will help complete a unique high-temperature experimental platform and use it to evaluate novel passive geometries, generate high-quality experimental datasets, and validate numerical models developed by the research team. The work combines experimental thermal sciences, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermal energy storage, and potentially CFD/thermal modelling.

Key responsibilities include completing instrumentation and data acquisition for the facility, designing and running experimental campaigns, analyzing data, comparing results with numerical models, optimizing enhancement geometries, and publishing results in international journals and conferences. The role also includes technology transfer and valorization activities.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Thermal Sciences, Energy, Fluid Mechanics, or a closely related field. Strong experimental research experience, scientific instrumentation skills, data processing ability, and excellent English writing/speaking skills are required. Experience with CFD or thermal modelling is welcome but not mandatory.

Contract and location: fixed-term 13 months; workplace in Les Hauts-de-France, France. The post mentions no business travel, telework, and part-time options.

Deadline: 2026-09-10.
