About this position
CEA in France is advertising a postdoctoral position in plasma physics focused on high energy density (HED) physics, radiation-matter interaction, and development of new models for the ESTHER code. The project aims to extend ESTHER capabilities for comparison with challenging HED experiments, including model development for equation of state (EOS), transport properties, opacities, and non-thermal electron distributions.
The successful candidate will join a team of physicists working on experiments and simulations across multiple platforms such as fs/ns lasers, XFELs, synchrotrons, and high pulse power devices. The role combines experimental design, data interpretation, numerical simulation, and collaboration with scientists experienced in EOS calculations and particle-in-cell development.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in plasma physics or a related field, solid knowledge of basic plasma physics, experience in analytical model development and software development, publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and the ability to present research results and work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Contract: 2 years plus two possible 1-year renewals. Location: Corbeil-Essonnes, Île-de-France, France. Application: submit via the CEA job portal using the provided link.
