About this position
Postdoctoral Position in Plasmonic Crystals for Solar Energy at EPFL, Switzerland.
This postdoctoral opening is in the research group SCI-ENAC-AS: Nanotechnology for Solar Energy Conversion led by Prof. Andreas Schüler at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). The project, “Coupled oscillations in plasmonic crystals”, focuses on coupling effects in plasmonic oscillations in metallic micro-/nanostructures and their potential for broad-band extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) in the UV-VIS-NIR range.
Research interests include plasmonics, solar energy, nanostructured materials, thin films, optics, materials science, and related experimental and numerical methods. The work may have impact on photovoltaics, flat screens, flexible displays, energy-efficient OLED lighting, electrochromic devices, and insulating glazing.
Eligibility: a PhD in Micro-/Nanotechnology, Physics, Optics, Materials Science, Energy, or a related quantitative field. Experience in reactive magnetron sputtering, electron-beam lithography, light-matter interaction theory, FDTD simulations, UV-VIS-NIR ellipsometry/spectrophotometry, STM, XPS, or UPS is desirable. Strong English proficiency is required; French is a plus.
Funding and contract: one-year postdoctoral contract, renewable depending on organizational needs and availability, with competitive remuneration.
How to apply: prepare a CV, motivation letter, diplomas, and recommendation letters. Apply via the EPFL online job portal only. Deadline: 2026-11-30. Expected start date: 2027-05-01.
