About this position

Postdoctoral position in Pluripotent Stem Cell Models of Human Development at the University of Gothenburg, Institute of Biomedicine, in the Guibentif lab.

This ERC-funded project uses single-cell profiling, single-cell genomics, proteomics, and advanced stem cell models to study human embryonic development and developmental hematopoiesis. The work aims to bridge in vitro pluripotent stem cell systems with in vivo developmental biology, with a focus on molecular programmes underlying blood cell emergence in the embryo.

The successful candidate will join a cross-disciplinary environment at the Institute of Biomedicine and the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research, working with developmental biologists and clinical scientists. Duties include establishing proteomics and single-cell profiling analysis workflows, contributing to manuscript writing, presenting at meetings, and supporting junior colleagues.

Eligibility: a doctoral degree (or equivalent) is required before appointment. Candidates who completed the PhD within the last three years are preferred, though exceptions may apply for special grounds. Strong experience in developmental biology, stem cells, aseptic cell culture, molecular biology, and/or single-cell profiling is desirable. Additional experience in chromatin immunoprecipitation, next-generation sequencing library preparation, droplet-based single-cell profiling, proteomics, FACS, flow cytometry data analysis, or computational NGS analysis is an advantage.

Employment: full-time, temporary for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension. Salary is individually set.

Application deadline: 2026-11-11.

How to apply: submit your application via the University of Gothenburg recruitment portal. Include a cover letter, CV with publications, proof of completed PhD, and contact details for two references.
