About this position
Stanford University is advertising 1–2 postdoctoral scholar positions in a collaborative project on reproductive biology, developmental biology, spatial transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, computational biology, and AI/machine learning.
The project is titled “A Spatial Transcriptomic Atlas of Embryo-Endometrial Crosstalk During Implantation and Human Embryo Development” and is led across the labs of Dr. Matteo Molè (Obstetrics & Gynecology) and Dr. Xiaojie Qiu (Genetics & Computer Science) at Stanford. The work aims to study the early human pregnancy “black box” by mapping gene activity and cell-cell interactions between the embryo and maternal endometrium.
There are two possible tracks: one for a strong computational scientist and one for an experimental scientist. Responsibilities include building 3D endometrial models, optimizing in vitro implantation assays, culturing human embryos and stem cell-based embryo models, tissue sectioning for spatial transcriptomics, analyzing single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data, and developing spatiotemporal modeling frameworks.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD in a relevant field such as computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics, AI, machine learning, computer science, developmental biology, cell biology, or regenerative medicine. For the computational track, Python/R and bioinformatics experience are important; for the experimental track, mammalian cell culture and embryology experience are emphasized. Experience with single-cell or spatial genomics is helpful but not required.
The position is funded through a new collaborative grant. The annual salary starts at $79,056, which is Stanford’s required minimum for postdoctoral scholars, and the initial appointment is for 1 year with expected renewal. The role is available immediately, depending on visa status and requirements.
To apply, email [email protected] and [email protected] with a CV, cover letter, and contact information for 3 professional references.
