About this position
The Sauer lab at the Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM), Saarland University, is advertising a postdoctoral position in systems neuroscience within an ERC-funded project.
The project focuses on representational drift and inter-areal communication in cortical circuits. The research environment is highly interdisciplinary and embedded in the vibrant neuroscience community at CIPMM. The lab combines in vivo calcium imaging, Neuropixels recordings, and computational modelling to investigate brain function.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge experiments and analyses, including high-density extracellular recordings with Neuropixels and calcium imaging using 1- or 2-photon microscopy, as well as analysis of complex in vivo datasets.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience or a related field. The position is especially suited to researchers with prior experience in in vivo recording methods, mouse models, and advanced Python programming. Fluency in English is required, and a certificate to work with animals in the European Union (for example FELASA) is expected.
The appointment is initially for 2 years with the possibility of extension. The position is funded through an ERC Horizon Europe project and follows the German TV-L 13 salary scale at 100%.
To apply, candidates should send a single PDF containing a CV, a brief description of previous research experience and motivation, and contact details of at least two references to [email protected].
Deadline: 9 August 2026, 23:59 Europe/Berlin.
