About this position

Postdoctoral position at the Universitat de Barcelona in the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Statistics, under the Ramon y Cajal grant RYC2024-049844-I, led by Dr. Carmen de Sena Tomás.

The research line focuses on immune mechanisms underlying central nervous system regeneration in zebrafish, with particular emphasis on the role of neutrophils in spinal cord and brain regeneration. The successful candidate will join a research group working at the interface of immunology, developmental biology, and regenerative neuroscience, using zebrafish as the model organism.

The postdoctoral researcher will carry out full-time experimental laboratory work and will use a range of approaches in zebrafish larvae and adults, including gene expression analysis, genome editing, transgenic approaches, confocal microscopy, live imaging, disease modelling, and functional assays.

This is a temporary, full-time postdoctoral contract for 6 months, with a gross salary of €17,067.65 for the contract period. The position is funded by the RYC2024-049844-I grant, supported by MICIU/AEI and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology or a related field and have accredited training to perform experimental procedures with zebrafish (animal experimentation). Good English and good Spanish are required. Experience in gene editing, transgenic approaches, gene expression analysis, confocal microscopy or live imaging, behavioural assays, zebrafish husbandry, bioinformatics, and flow cytometry will strengthen the application.

Applications are evaluated by a specific committee based on CV suitability, motivation letter, and research experience. The selected candidate will need to accept the offer within 3 working days after notification. The application deadline is 30 October 2027.

Apply via the university’s online application portal and submit the requested documents, including a full CV with referee contacts and a motivation letter.
