About this position
KTH Royal Institute of Technology is advertising postdoctoral positions in Nuclear Engineering within the School of Engineering Sciences in Stockholm, Sweden.
The project focuses on thermohydraulics and the safety of small modular reactors (SMRs). The work includes analysis supporting the design and development of large-scale experimental facilities to be constructed and operated at KTH and in Oskarshamn. The facilities will address important thermohydraulic phenomena relevant to both water-cooled and liquid lead-cooled SMRs, and the research is connected to national projects supported by the Swedish Energy Agency as well as collaborative European projects.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree by the time the employment decision is made. The doctorate should be in nuclear engineering, experimental and analytical thermohydraulics, or fluid mechanics. Preferred candidates have a recent PhD (within the last three years), experience with experimental and analytical investigation of thermohydraulic phenomena relevant to reactor safety, strong communication and teamwork skills, and motivation for research. Teaching experience is considered an advantage.
Funding and employment: this is a temporary full-time postdoctoral appointment for up to two years. The announcement mentions monthly salary, but no stipend amount or tuition information is provided.
How to apply: submit the application through KTH's recruitment system. Required documents include a CV, diplomas and grades, a short research motivation statement (up to two pages), and letters of support or contact details for 2-3 referees. The deadline is 17 August 2026.
