About this position

University of Dundee is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position (UOD2336) in the Faculty of Life Sciences, Unit/Department of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology.

The project is in the Miller lab and focuses on protein secretion, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) quality control, and the stress-response pathway ER-associated ribosome-associated quality control (ER-RQC). The work will use yeast genetics, biochemistry, ribosome profiling, and translation-focused approaches to understand how cells prevent ribosome collisions, sense and resolve them, and maintain protein biogenesis quality control. Findings will also be translated to mammalian/human cell models.

This is a 2-year fixed-term research post with a salary of £37,174 - £40,497 per annum (Grade 7). The role involves independent research, presenting at seminars and meetings, drafting papers, and helping train Honours, MSc, and PhD students.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant area is required; expertise in yeast genetics and ribosome biology is especially valued. Experience with standard molecular biology is expected, and experience in biochemistry, ribosome profiling, mRNA analysis, quantitative/statistical analysis, and running an independent project are advantageous.

Deadline: 27 August 2026, 23:59.

How to apply: submit an application through the external candidate portal linked on the job page. Internal University of Dundee staff should apply via OneUniversity under My Recruitment > Available Jobs.
