About this position

Postdoctoral Research Assistant opportunity at the University of Dundee in the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC PPU), working in the Liang Laboratory on ER-phagy and endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis.

The project focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate ER-phagy and how disruption of this pathway contributes to human disease. This is a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, autophagy, and organelle biology. Experience with bioinformatics, quantitative image analysis, or omics datasets would be an advantage.

This is a fixed-term 2-year postdoctoral role with possible extension subject to funding and performance. The salary is £37,174-£45,413 per annum (Grade 7).

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline, plus a strong research record with at least one peer-reviewed first-author publication or equivalent achievement. Applicants should also demonstrate strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Deadline: 17 August 2026, 23:59.

How to apply: submit a cover letter, CV with publications, and contact details for three referees. External candidates should apply via the provided application portal; internal candidates should apply through OneUniversity.
