About this position
Texas A&M University is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Geology at College Station, Texas, United States. The project is supervised by Dr. Roger Creel and focuses on Arctic relative sea level (RSL), glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA), and postglacial sea-level change.
The successful candidate will build and maintain open-source relational databases of Arctic RSL data, apply statistical models to fill spatial and temporal gaps, interpolate RSL changes across inaccessible regions, and compare modeled trends with GIA predictions to refine ice history and Earth parameter estimates. Research emphasis includes the Greenland and Laurentide Ice Sheets.
Eligibility: A PhD in Geology, Earth Science, or a similar field is required. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in a related field, Arctic fieldwork experience collecting relative sea-level data (preferably in Greenland), and experience working for the United States Geological Survey. Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills are also highlighted.
Funding: This is a grant-funded postdoctoral role with salary commensurate to experience; continued employment may depend on future funding. Texas A&M also lists employee benefits such as insurance, paid leave, retirement, wellness programs, professional development support, and tuition assistance.
