About this position

Washington State University (WSU) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Cannabis, Brain, & Development (CBD) Lab in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience, working in Dr. Ryan McLaughlin’s lab at the Pullman campus in Washington, United States.

The project uses rat models to study the long-term effects of prenatal cannabis exposure on corticostriatal circuit function and cognitive flexibility. The role includes behavioral neuroscience experiments such as vapor self-administration, operant conditioning, attentional set-shifting, and reversal learning, plus stereotaxic surgery, viral (AAV) injections, optic fiber implants, fiber photometry recordings, and rodent colony management.

Applicants should hold an earned PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, have strong communication skills and a record of accomplishments, and have fewer than five years of research experience since the doctorate. The lab prefers candidates with experience in developmental neurobiology, cannabinoid pharmacology, and in vivo calcium imaging (fiber photometry), and values a willingness to learn ex vivo electrophysiology. Leadership and mentoring experience are also expected.

This is a full-time, temporary 12-month appointment with a monthly salary of $5,186–$5,862 depending on experience and education. WSU offers benefits including paid leave, holidays, medical/dental/life/disability insurance, and retirement benefits. Renewal depends on extension needs and/or additional funding.

Apply online through the WSU Workday portal by November 8, 2026. Upload a CV and cover letter that clearly address the required and preferred qualifications. Contact Laura Kinslow at [email protected] with application questions.
